Elementary Schools
Big Sur Charter School
Originating in Big Sur, it is now operating at Monterey Learning Center. This is a hybrid option that combines education at Monterey Learning Center, education in the home setting, as well as in our community and in nature. Parents are considered partners in the learning environment. Grades range from TK-8th grade.
A parent of a student there shares, “This school is absolutely amazing! All the teachers, the school director, and the assistant director are all so wonderful to work with. I have had my daughter here since kindergarten and we haven’t had any issues. She loves the Coastal Stewardship class that lets her learn about our environment and how to treat it but also allows her to explore new places! She has made lifelong friends here as well. I love that I get to be hands-on with her learning but that she also gets to attend a class where she can learn from others!”
Monte Vista Elementary School
Known for its strong academic program and learning environment that is very supporting, Monte Vista is a great choice for elementary school. The school places a strong emphasis on character development, education to the whole child.

Pacific Grove Middle School
Pacific Grove rises above some of the other middle school options because of their dedication academic and personal growth. They have innovative programs that really seek to cater to diverse student interests. Some of their electives include arts, music, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). They also have many sports and clubs where students are able to explore their passions and develop new skills outside the classroom.
Seaside Middle School
The staff and faculty at Seaside Middle School are truly committed to student success. They endeavor to give the students a strong foundation in core subjects and critical thinking. The students themselves have great things to say about their school, “This school is very good, especially the music program. This school is the one if you want to pick up an instrument! … it is full of really nice staff and people everyone are accepting. The classes are good and there are classes to help you out if you need it. There are honor classes as well as programs to help you out after school. Wouldn’t want to spend 3 years anywhere else, this school has everything you need.”
High Schools
Carmel High School
Carmel High School has a low student to teacher ration (17 to 1), with the majority of their students being proficient in math and above average in reading. The scores for this school come back very highly. The majority of alumni go on to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and University of California – Los Angeles.
